Seismology

Seismology is a diverse earth science that includes a variety of subfields such as the local measurement and study of earthquakes and aftershocks, assessment of fault-line tension and global earthquake analysis.  At the core of all seismological work is accurate data, used for important analysis – either in real time for earthquake response and hazard mitigation, or scientific studies. Seismological equipment measures the movement of the earth.  Scientists and seismologists use permanent installations to study the overall movement of the Earth, and local installations for specific regional studies – along with quick deployment measurement equipment to monitor and study aftershock events.
