March 25, 2003: IRIS/PASSCAL Instrument Pool Expansion

IRIS/PASSCAL is expanding its pool of instruments with the acquisition of REF TEK's 3rd Generation Broadband High Resolution Seismic Recorder. In March, 2002, IRIS asked REF TEK to deliver an initial 25 units of the REF TEK 130-01.

In March, 2003, IRIS purchased an additional 140 REF TEK 130's to use in various experiments all over the world. Each station consists of the 130-01/3 Broadband High Resolution Seismic Recorder, the 130-GPS/01, 1 GB Compact Flash card (2 per unit) and associated cables. Each unit is equipped with an RT527 Sensor Calibration board to provide broadband sensor calibration function and mass re-centering. An additional three auxiliary channels are available on the RT527 Sensor Calibration Board to record data from low sampling rate geophysical sensors. Delivery of the 140-unit order will commence in June, 2003.
